The
Principality of Hutt River(previously known as Hutt River
Province,
is Australia's oldest micronation. It remains a self-proclaimed independent
sovereign state since its foundation.
Leonard George Casley founded the Hutt River Province on April 21, 1970, when he proclaimed secession from the state of Western Australia. He was initially elected administrator of the newly named Hutt River Province. Faced with further threats from a new federal government, Administrator Casley was elected Prince Leonard to protect himself and his supporters from prosecution.
People around the world who support the values of PHR can become overseas citizens. The Principality of Hutt River law recognizes dual citizenship and today citizens in more than 73 countries form a unique world-wide affinity group that identifies with the incredible story of the man who became a prince and the country he founded.
